Pyramids of Tazumal, Casa Blanca and the colonial City of Chalchuapa
Casa Blanca's Pyramids – Indigo workshop – Chalchuapa historical center – Chalchuapa colonial church – Pyramids of El Tazumal
The tour will start at 9:00 am taking our departure from San Salvador city. On this tour you will have the unique opportunity to visit two archeological sites that are part of the same complex; the first location that we will visit is casa Blanca, a set of pyramids; some of which have a unique circular shape which makes them extremely rare in El Salvador and Meso America . In this place we shall have the opportunity to go to an indigo workshop where you will take part of the dying of a typical clothing, a piece which you will be able to take home as a souvenir of the experience. The colonial city of Chalchuapa was built partly in the premises of this pyramid complex during the colonial period which will take us to visit its historical centre and one of the most ancient churches in El Salvador; than we will visit El Tazumal, which is the biggest pyramid that has been discovered in the country and its for certain that its architecture will impress you.
To finish our tour we will go to a craftsman's shop where you can appreciate the fabulous crafting of the jade stone, a stone that is now considered a jewel and in the past became to be considered more valuable than gold.
